Story
San Ureshi — meaning “Joy of the Trio” — is an Adelaide-based ensemble that blends the evocative sounds of erhu, guzheng , and percussion into immersive musical journeys. Formed in 2019, the group features Zhao Liang (guzheng), Satomi Ohnishi (percussion), and David Dai (erhu) three accomplished performers passionate about connecting cultures through sound.
San Ureshi’s repertoire combines original compositions, reimagined folk melodies, and cross-cultural collaborations. Their music is celebrated for its meditative quality, playful rhythms, and innovative arrangements, offering audiences a unique blend of tradition and contemporary expression.
Performance highlights include the Adelaide Fringe Festival concert series "San Ureshi and Friends", and commissions for the Art Gallery of South Australia including No God but God (2019), Samurai (2020), and True Self (2021)., and open-air concerts at Adelaide’s Himeji Gardens. The trio also tours nationally with Musica Viva In Schools, presenting Life is an Echo, an acclaimed education program that invites young audiences to listen deeply and explore sound.
Through each performance, San Ureshi shares not just music, but moments of connection — inviting audiences to pause, reflect, and experience the joy of listening.
